Yasuko Yamamura, MD; MPO President, University of Minnesota

Dr. Yamaura is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women's Health at the University of Minnesota. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecolgoy at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Minnesota.

In addition to being an active clinical partner in the University MFM practice, she also serves ACOG District VI Champion for FASD Prevention and is the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship Director at the University of Minnesota. Her primary interests are medical education and preterm birth prevention. Dr Yamamura is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has a subspecialty certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Matthew Loichinger, DO; MPO President-Elect, Minnnesota Perinatal Physicians

Dr. Loichinger is a board-certified maternal-fetal medicine specialist with Minnesota Perinatal Physicians, part of Allina Health.

Minnesota Perinatal Physicians offers expert and personalized high-risk obstetrical care in the Upper Midwest. From diagnosis to treatment and pre-pregnancy to returning back home, Minnesota Perinatal Physicians provides comprehensive and seamless care for all maternal health concerns, pregnancy complications and fetal abnormalities.

"High-risk pregnancies can be an anxious time for patients and their families. It is my job to support patients and their families throughout pregnancy with comprehensive care plans, effective communication and patient education to achieve the ultimate goal: a healthy mother and a healthy baby."

Dr. Loichinger also believes in patient-centered care that is supported by evidence-based medicine.

Phillip Rauk, MD; MPO Past President, University of Minnesota

Dr Rauk is Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women's Health at the University of Minnesota, Program Director for the Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Medical Director of Obstetrics at MHealth and Chair of the Perinatal Advisory Committee at the Minnesota Hospital Association. He obtained his medical degree and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University in St Louis, MO. Dr Rauk completed his fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Pittsburg, Magee-Women's Hospital in 1992. He joined the faculty there until 2003 when he was recruited to the University of Minnesota. His research interests are in patient safety and interprofessional education. 

Dr Rauk is the physician lead for Fairview Zero Birth Injury Initiative at Fairview Health Systems. The overall mission of the initiative is to:
1) Champion the effort to follow evidence based clinical practice standards/guidelines.
2) Reduce preventable perinatal harm to zero.
3) Create a culture that values team cohesiveness, communication, and team performance. 
4) Promote system standardization of best practice to encourage collaboration across all sites and increase efficiency of workflow in policy/guideline/order set development. 
5) Improved patient satisfaction, improved employee engagement, lower cost of care and potential liability exposure. 

Susan Boehm, RN, BSN, MS; MPO Executive Director/Treasurer

Susan has been a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Women's Health for over 30 years. She has a long history with MPO as a volunteer, conference presenter, planning committee member, and has served on the Board of Directors. She is currently the Executive Director and is actively involved in the development of the Minnesota Perinatal Quality Collaborative (MNPQC). 

She enjoys the outdoors, hiking and kayaking, and loves the solitude of their cabin in the Boundary Waters.

Bonnie Hansen, MPO Business Manager/Board Secretary

Bonnie is an Independent Meeting & Event Planner, and has worked for MPO since 2004. She grew up on a small farm in Central MN and enjoys reading, volunteering, traveling, and biking. 

Bonnie and her husband have three children and four grandchildren. They reside in Cold Spring. 

Todd Amunrud, DO, FAAP; Northfield Hospital & Clinics, MPO Board Member

Dr Amunrud is a pediatrician at Northfield Hospital and Clinics. He grew up in Owatonna and moved back to Minnesota after his residency in Nebraska. 

He and his wife, Joy, have been married for 20 years and live in Northfield with their children, Jane and Jens, and two wonderful dogs. Their ideal long family weekend is camping the Superior Hiking Trail.

Jill Bauer, MA, PHN, RN; Childrens Hospital, MPO Board Member

Jill has been the Neonatal Outreach Liaison for Children's Hospitals for the past 14 years. In this role, she shares education and resources focused on improving care and outcomes of newborns in community hospitals throughout our region. She has been involved with MPO for the past 15 years and is a former MPO President. 

In her personal time, she enjoys mission work, family time with her adult children, camping, photography, and travel with her husband, Dan.

Laura France, MD; HealthEast, MPO Board Member

Dr France is a general obstetrician and gynecologist who enjoys both aspects of what she does. She finished residency in 1997 and continues to be happy with her choice of professions. She has had medical experience in many places - medical school at the University of Minnesota, Syracuse for residency training, and practices here and din Pittsburg - and with different practices models - academic medicine, large mulitspecialy group practice, and solo private practice. She believes that these varied experiences have enhanced her ability to better take care of women as she has been exposed to many different situations and styles. 

Overall, Dr France believes it's important to listen to her patients as well as keep up with new information on medical conditions, medications, and treatment options.

She enjoys cooking and baking, working in the yard, and shoe shopping.

Candice (Candy) Hobbs, NNP; Mayo Clinic, MPO Board Member

Candy has been in neonatal medicine since 2002, and a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner since 2010. She currently practices at Mayo Clinic in a Level II and III NICU. She has been there her entire 21 year career. 

Candy is also in school to obtain a Doctorate of Nursing practice with a goal to teach college courses one day. She lives in a small town in southeast Minnesota on an acreage. She has been married to her husband, Marvin, for 23 years. They have three children: two boys, Hunter and Broden, and daughter, Parker. She enjoys serving as a board member.
